Oh wow, it’s February already? Did January sneak out the back door while I wasn’t looking?
Hello my dear readers,
January zoomed by, and I think I’ve cracked the mystery—it’s because I kicked off the year with a bit of traveling, and time seems to fly when you’re on the move!
My first adventure of the year took me to Bangkok, where we were greeted by a surprisingly chilly January. With temperatures hovering around 20-22°C and a brisk breeze, it was much cooler than I expected. “Cold” in Bangkok? Who would’ve thought! But honestly, it was a refreshing change and quite enjoyable.

Next stop on our journey was Hong Kong, where things got even chillier with temperatures dipping to 12-14°C. This time, though, I was ready for it—no surprises here! It might have been cold, but it only added to the charm of exploring this vibrant city.

Back in Phuket, where the temperature is a warm and breezy 29-30 degrees Celsius, things are starting to feel “back to normal.” The Christmas and New Year rush has subsided, and the calm sea and gentle breeze have returned. However, one unfortunate reality of overtourism here is the overwhelming waste problem. Despite being a popular tourist destination for years, Phuket still struggles to handle the sheer volume of visitors, and the resulting pollution is heartbreaking.
To paint you a picture: the wastewater, unfortunately, flows directly into the sea, turning it pitch black in some areas. And the smell? You don’t even want to imagine it. Add to that the piles of plastic and paper litter scattered everywhere, and it’s a grim reminder of the damage caused by—surprise, surprise—us humans. It’s devastating to see such a beautiful place burdened by something so preventable.

But most of the time, we choose to focus on the beauty that surrounds us—the serene blue sea, calm and inviting, and two good friends enjoying a peaceful morning by the shore. It’s these moments of tranquility and connection that remind us of why this place is so special, despite its challenges.

Wishing you a February filled with love, joy, and beautiful moments! 🌸✨
