My Literary Journey Continues – Book #1 of 2025

Hello my dear readers,

I kicked off the year with some travel, and as always, traveling means diving into a good book. So here I am, starting 2025 with my first read of the year!

My book # 1 of 2025 was The Memory Keeper by Corin Burnside

The Memory Keeper by Corin Burnside
Genre:Historical Fiction, Romance Novel
Author:Corin Burnside

Book Summary:

1940: Bella Gardner, a nature enthusiast who thrives on working outdoors, is eager to contribute to the war effort when WWII breaks out. She joins the Air Transport Auxiliary, longing to take on a more hands-on role. However, a devastating accident involving her brother forces Bella to make a life-altering decision that shifts her path forever.

2014: Archaeologist Jennifer Dawson is thrilled by the prospect of uncovering a lost World War II Spitfire. But her excitement turns to shock when she discovers the remains of the pilot still inside. As she delves into the mystery of the forgotten aviator, Jennifer confronts her own personal struggles, only to uncover that the truth behind the pilot’s story might be closer to her own life than she ever imagined.

My Review:

Dual-timeline historical stories that seamlessly weave together past and present are truly captivating, and Corin Burnside has crafted an exceptional one. The story is emotional, gripping, and brimming with mystery and intrigue. Although the outcome became somewhat predictable early on, the journey to uncover the truth was utterly engaging.

I found myself so enthralled that I ended up researching more about Spitfires and the historical period surrounding the story. Finishing the book felt like saying goodbye to a group of dear friends—a testament to the richness of its characters and plot.

The intertwining of the two timelines was masterfully done, making it hard to put the book down. It’s a compelling read, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys historical fiction with a touch of mystery.

Now, I’m diving into the second book on my very long reading list! Let’s see what adventures the next one has in store!

Happy Readings!
