I would like to ask you something

So, here’s the deal—I’ve been wrestling with this annoying LITTLE issue for a while now. I haven’t been blogging as much recently (oops), but every time I try to get back into it and open my blog, it feels like I’m watching paint dry. Everything takes forever to load! I use the online version of WordPress on Google Chrome, and I can’t help but wonder—am I the only one stuck in this slow-motion nightmare?

What do you use to write your blogs? Are your blogging tools playing nice, or do you feel like you’re waiting for dial-up speeds too?

Spill the tea—I’m dying to know your secret to smooth blogging!

I use the app and the free version of wordpress on the website. I only use the app if I gain inspiration while traveling or out

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

So, using the app you don’t have issues writing posts right?

Good stuff. Classic works for me best! And yes that “like button” issue does only happen sometimes yet it makes me wonder why? Oh well, nothing is perfect..

Good luck and have a great day!

I write and create my pictures outside of WordPress, and only use the app on my tablet to post, read, comment. It’s not perfect, some annoying thing, but I don’t experience any major problems, like what you’re describing. And yes, the website browser does lag, the app is a lot better!

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

To read and comment I usually use the app on my tablet and I don’t experience this issue but to write posts I always find it better using a bigger monitor 😆 and for this reason I usually use the WP online…but thanks for your feedback! I’ll try to use the app on my tablet to write posts and see how it goes ☺️

Exactly the same thing I do , but I just started blogging and I’m willing to see best ways to engage readers and give the right audience what they need

We could share insights here on tips to building engagements

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

The best way to engage readers is to be present, read and comment on your fellow bloggers genuinely! This is a wonderful community for that! If the platforms works and no issues with the loading then is even better ☺️

  4. Thistles and Kiwis Avatar

I never use the app – it was and probably is, still awful. I use Chrome and WP which annoys me as WP doesn’t like Safari and I am a Mac user. I have no problems using WP with Chrome, no lag.

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

I am a Mac user too and I use WP with Chrome but is so very slow…with Safari I gave up a long time ago because is even worst…Since you have no lag, I don’t know…I’ll try to find out when I’ll have time from the happiness engineers if they still exists 😆 Thanks for your feedback!

I use WP on my iMac and heed just come out of a period you describe. I recently rebooted the router and all has been well since.

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

So yours was due to the internet? I don’t think mine is related to the router as all the rest is working perfectly and I work from home using various softwares but everything is fine except WP 😅

      1. derrickjknight Avatar

WP was by far the worst. Obviously the router contributed. I don’ know enough about all this 🙂

  7. Sheree Avatar

WP has become noticeably slower. I typically write posts using Mozilla and WP on my ancient Mac.

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

Thanks for sharing! I think I’ll try using the WP/Jetpack app to write posts and see if it’s working better…

  8. Ritish Sharma Avatar

I actually use Chrome and the WordPress dashboard rather than the app. Also, I’m on a self-hosted domain, which I think gives me an advantage since I’m not relying on WordPress’s own servers.
Have you considered switching to a self-hosted domain or trying a different browser/app combo to see if that speeds things up?

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

Thanks for sharing! I have tried WP dashboard on Safari but is even worst. Now I’m using it on Chrome but is super slow. I’m not self-hosted, so not sure if that’s changing something…I’ll try using the WP app on my iPad and see if it’s better…

      1. Ritish Sharma Avatar

Maybe try clearing the cache then…Good luck with the app though.

      2. popsiclesociety Avatar

        I’ll try! Thanks! 😊

  9. arlene Avatar

I use my tablet to update WordPress, no problem so far.😍

Thanks for sharing Arlene! I’ll try using my iPad for it too and see if it’s better!

  10. beth Avatar

I use wp and chrome on my Mac, but have also used it on safari and it definitely seems to favor chrome.

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

Thank you for sharing! And using it on Chrome is working for you now? I use it for writing the posts but is very slow also on Chrome…a few months back was not an issue…

      1. beth Avatar

it is ever changing, but it is working for me at the moment –

      2. popsiclesociety Avatar

        Understand…thanks

  11. Looking for the Light Avatar

I’ve had the same problem for some time. I now clear my cache every week or twice if surfing more, and I tried Firefox instead of my usual Safari. Firefox has worked much better but I had some issues yesterday, I put those in WP’s lap.

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

Thanks for sharing! I think I’ll ask the happiness engineers too what’s the issue…

      1. Looking for the Light Avatar

Good luck with that. I’ve found the best answers about WP on Copilot. 🙂

  12. Dorothy's New Vintage Kitchen Avatar

I’m in the same boat, and I don’t think it’s WP, it’s our crappy wifi that is slower than molasses. They laid the cable for fiber optics last spring, but the special crew that hooks it all up has yet to be seen. Promises. Promises.

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

I’m sorry 😢 is very frustrating waiting for it to load…I don’t have problems with the internet though as I work from home and everything else is super fast ☺️ I hope they’ll come by this spring at least 😅

  13. RasmaSandra Avatar

I use Microsoft Word to write up all my articles. Then when I blog I just copy and paste information on WordPress. All the photos I need I have also found before and have them saved and ready to post.

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

Thanks for sharing! Even if I do it in this way I still need to wait a lot for the post to load…even simply opening to write a new post is slow…🥺

  14. Sahina Shamim Avatar

Use the app. No issues. You can write, post. Read other authors blogs at ease. I don’t use online version. I got used to using apps. And I use 100% on iPhone. No mac, no laptop. Just phone user. That’s my experience

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

Thanks for sharing! Oh wow! How do you manage to do it from the iPhone? I find that also doing it from the iPad is a bit difficult…I got used to have bigger monitors to write the posts 😅 For reading and commenting it works perfectly on the iPad…I’ll try to write posts too and see if it’s better!

  15. hitandrun1964 Avatar

I think I use the same thing you do. I only use my Mac, never my phone or any other device.

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

Thanks for sharing! And you don’t experience any issues? No lag in loading?

    Yes Rabina,
I feel the whole thing has gone to pot generally.
I do NOT want to be pressurised into using jetpack as I am quite happy accessing via my I phone.
Have always been happy using computer also.
Seems to be little difference between ‘happiness’ engineers and robots!
Meanwhile I am biding my time catching up with the reader and, when I get chance, revisiting all my posts. 😏❤️

    1. Margaret Avatar

A word press revolution in the offing??

    2. popsiclesociety Avatar

Thanks for sharing Margaret! The Jetpack app is working fine on tablet and phone for reading and commenting. I’ll try writing some posts on it too and see if it’s better 😁

      1. Margaret McDaid Avatar
        Margaret McDaid

        Hi Rabina,
Yes can read posts on reader, not difficult to work out spectacle icon takes you there 😉
Can like and comment and all on my I phone as usual.
Gone all across top toolbar to no avail.
When I have time I will do my ‘homework’ given on links provided by ‘Happiness’ engineer whom I have found quite useful in the past.
I did have to spell out what a toolbar at the top was. Maybe the whole language has changed but I would have thought ‘top’ was easy enough. 🫣
        Please excuse the rant.
Thanks for taking the time to reply 🙂

I am also facing the same problem 😔

  18. Arun Singha Avatar

I’m using a jetpack, yet very slow.

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

Jetpack app on iPad and iPhone seems to work ok for reading and commenting. I’ll try using it for writing posts too and see how is it.

I use WP on an iPad, it’s not a great fit. It once worked well but the way WP has been updated has made it harder to blog.

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

Thanks for sharing! WP online on the iPad? I’m using the Jetpack app on the iPad but only for reading and commenting. I’ll try my luck in writing posts too and see how is going even though I like using a bigger monitor while writing and researching 😅

WP can be laggy due to all the content like images having to load. I also found if you have a lot of media on your own site it can slow you down. I removed a lot of media from my old posts so it loads quicker. Internet speed could be an issue. Try and have at least 100 gb download speed. It might be an issue where you live, meaning bad or slow internet connections. I wouldn’t expect much if, for instance, one would live in the Sahara or such. Some WP themes don’t work as smoothly as others. Jetpack has some buggy issues sometimes. I use the classic dashboard to write as I find writing with/through blocks a nightmare. Good luck 🍀

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

Thanks for your feedback! Working from home I usually have minimum 400 mbps download speed in WiFi so that’s ok because everything else is working fine. Since the blog has quite a few years, it has a lot of photos that I’ll probably need to remove from older posts. I have recently changed the theme with the one recommended by WP so not sure about that…The Jetpack app on my iPad is working fine for reading and commenting. I’ve tried writing posts from it too but I find it troublesome, so I guess I’ll stick with the WP online version for the moment.

  22. Poetpas Avatar
    Poetpas

Ok. Do you use the classic dashboard? The one where you add /wp-admin to your url?

I do plus I use the Jetpack apps on my iPhone and iPad. I don’t like the newer setup but it does seem to work. One bug I see is that when I try to like someone’s post it keeps trying to log in after which the like button still doesn’t work, whilst trying to log in again…and again…etc, etc…

I think that companies have IT teams on their payroll that are instructed to come up with new things which aren’t necessarily better. Why not leave things be I think 🤔 Anyway, I hope you can sort things out.

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

Yes, I use the classic dashboard when writing my posts.

That thing with the like button is happening to me too but only with some blogs not all.

Yes, sometimes they like to complicate things that are simple and working fine!

Thanks for your feedback and advises!
