5 Thanksgiving side dishes that you must try

With only a few days until Thanksgiving (26 November), everyone who is celebrating, I believe have decided the menu already.

But let’s be honest. Thanksgiving is not all about the turkey. The turkey without the side dishes would be just a simple turkey.

In our country we celebrate the harvest season, we don’t have Thanksgiving day, but I am grateful for everything I have: for health, for love, for food, for a roof above my head and in my little I try as much as I can to enjoy life and be happy.

I know this year was a year to forget, with lots of struggles for everyone, but food can always be helpful and improve our mood.

Even if maybe you cannot celebrate this year as the previous years, if your country or city is in lockdown, remember that can have fun and good time also at home.

Cooking it can be very healthful and relaxing.

So Thanksgiving is another opportunity for you to challenge yourself in the kitchen and have some fun.

Let’s see top 5 Thanksgiving side dishes that cannot miss from your Thanksgiving table

1. Mashed potatoes

Did you know that according to a new survey 71% of Americans like mashed potatoes as their side dish for Thanksgiving dinner?

Well, I always love mashed potatoes as my side dish and not only. I am a potatoes lover.

2. Cranberry sauce

The turkey can be quite dry sometimes and the cranberry sauce is the perfect match for it.

3. Green bean casserole

I simply love the crunchy green beans as a side dish.

4. Roasted carrots

Roasted carrots are always a treat. So easy and yet so tasty.

5. Brussels sprouts with bacon

Brussels sprouts always had their fashion 😉 I love these mini cabbages.

Even if I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, these side dishes I eat them every single week, without the need of a special occasion.

Actually being healthy and alive is a very good reason to celebrate everyday! And a good meal is always the perfect treat!

    These are such fantastic suggestions! European’s don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, but my husband’s Birthday is next Tuesday.     It’s never really about the turkey, it is all about the sides. We always try a couple of new sides every year, but keep the basics: mashed potatoes, creamed onions, cauliflower with cheese sauce, and fresh green beans with something crispy on top, usually crunchy garlic. Everyone gets there favorite pie so there is plenty to take home. This year, it will be all families in their own homes and a Zoom dessert get together.

        It certainly will be a different day, but it will be fine. I just ordered flowers for both my children’s households, it is always exciting to have the doorbell ring and there is a surprise of flowers! Anything this year to keep the happiness coming even if we’re apart!

    We don’t celebrate thanksgiving much too but I like how you say it, there’s much to be grateful for and celebrate. Brussels Sprouts and bacon caught my interest the most… more affordable than turkey haha 😀

        This reminds me of the time when I was 12, my family visited my mom’s siblings, it was supposed to be a family gathering so they caught one duck and asked me to babysit. Big mistake. I befriended it. After they got back with all the ingredients, the duck was nowhere to be found 😂
