After two books about reality (because apparently, I needed more of that), it was high time for a novel. And oh, what a novel it was—I polished it off in two half days (thanks to those pesky work duties slowing me down). Believe me when I say, it’s the kind of page-turner that glues itself to your hands until you reach the end. Seriously, unputdownable! (if such a word exists).
My book # 11 was The House of the Witch by Clare Marchant

Book Summary:
Present: Adrianna escapes to a secluded, weathered cottage near the sea in rural Norfolk, seeking solace from her city life and the troubles she’s left behind. But the cottage, like Adrianna herself, has its own secrets. When she discovers a hidden bundle of notes beneath a floorboard, it feels as though they were meant for her. Her curiosity deepens when she stumbles upon a peculiar stone in the overgrown garden, pulling her into a mystery that stretches back centuries.
1646: Ursula, the village midwife, is fiercely independent, relying on her skills and remedies to live without the need for a man. But in a time when whispers of witchcraft can spell doom, her autonomy is perilous. When a powerful local doctor takes an interest in her, she must navigate the dangerous waters of his attention with wit and cunning to avoid losing her freedom—or her life.
As the lives of these two women, connected by a shared place and its hidden history, intertwine across time, they must each confront the challenges of their era to uncover their own paths forward.
My Review:
I was utterly captivated by this incredible timeslip novel—an absolute must-read. It’s a poignant and gripping story of a woman fighting for independence in an era when strong women were feared and harshly punished.
The House of the Witch had me hooked from the very first page and didn’t let go. I couldn’t get enough of it… This is historical fiction at its finest. I especially loved how the two compelling women were connected through time and place. As I mentioned, I devoured it in just two sittings—it was nearly impossible to put down! It’s an amazing, atmospheric read filled with brilliant twists and heart-stopping moments.
Not sure what I’ll pick up next! Let’s see where the reading journey takes me! 📚 But I have a feeling that it will be good!
Happy Readings!
