Hello my dear readers,
At the beginning of October, we kicked things off with a business trip to Jakarta—a blend of early mornings, city views, and some unexpected dining experiences!
Starting with a stunning sunrise over the city, the hazy Jakarta skyline greeted us with that familiar urban charm. From our vantage point, we could see the city waking up, its buildings shrouded in a misty glow, reminding us why every day feels like an adventure here. Fast forward to a bit of downtime, and we found ourselves lounging by the pool, soaking in the view of high-rise buildings reflecting on the water—a moment of peace before diving back into the hustle.
Jakarta’s nightlife didn’t disappoint either! The city lights glimmered against the night sky, a vibrant reminder that this city truly comes alive after dark.
One evening, we had dinner at a Chinese restaurant (yes, in Jakarta!). It might sound a bit unexpected, but trust me, the chandeliers, the chefs in tall hats, and the dishes that kept arriving at our table made it feel like a special treat. Watching the chefs work their magic tableside was a sight—and the food was, of course, delicious!
To wrap up the trip, there was the usual airport hustle, waving goodbye to Jakarta (until next time!) and preparing ourselves for the next destination. October, you’re off to a good start!

Back in Phuket, on a lively Sunday evening, we took a stroll through the vibrant Phuket Town Market—a true feast for the senses! The bustling streets were packed with locals and tourists alike, all exploring the colorful stalls lining the charming old town. Each shop seemed to glow under the evening sky, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. There were vendors selling everything from handmade crafts to unique trinkets, and let’s not forget the mouthwatering street food that seemed to call out from every corner!
Among the highlights were the beautifully woven, rainbow-colored animals crafted with intricate detail, which added a splash of color to the market scene. Local musicians strummed and sang in front of historic buildings, while groups of people gathered around, swaying and dancing to the lively tunes. And of course, no market visit would be complete without stopping at the food stalls: fresh seafood, skewers of sizzling meats, and endless delicacies that smelled absolutely irresistible (or maybe not!). It was a perfect blend of culture, flavor, and fun—a snapshot of Phuket’s spirit that left me wanting more!

It looks like October turned into a baking bonanza, especially with friends visiting! I whipped up some tasty treats that were so irresistible, snapping photos was almost an afterthought. We had everything from baked donuts to a cozy apple bread pudding, a potatoes crumble, plus a savory twist with a cheese-stuffed bread and homemade granola. Not stopping there, I tried my hand at traditional Romanian covrigi, a kind of soft, salted pretzel. They’re a bit of a labor of love but totally worth it for that golden, chewy bite.
And, of course, I had to top it all off with a showstopper—a fluffy Italian olive oil cake layered with cream, blueberries, and mango, because let’s not forget, we are in Phuket after-all. This cake was all about bright, fresh flavors, with the olive oil adding a subtle richness. It looked almost too pretty to eat…but we managed! I’m not sure if it was the food or the company, but these goodies barely lasted long enough for a taste test.
As for the recipes for all these goodies…well, let’s just say my schedule is as packed as my belly after tasting them all! But hey, if there’s one that’s calling your name, give me a shout, and I’ll whip up the recipe just for you. After all, what are friends for if not to share delicious secrets? 😄

One evening, we found ourselves captivated by a fire show on Kamala Beach. It was like stepping into a scene from a tropical festival, complete with palm trees and a night sky lit up by the fiery spectacle. Performers twirled flaming batons, creating mesmerizing patterns in the dark, while the sand transformed into a dance floor of fire and light. At one point, sparks flew everywhere, and we could practically feel the heat from the safety of our seats. It was a mix of danger and art, leaving us wide-eyed and cheering. Nothing says “island vibes” like a good fire show under the stars!

In October, the Andaman Sea gave us quite the show with its ever-changing moods. Some days, the ocean was as calm as a lake, barely a ripple to be seen, perfect for a peaceful stroll along Kamala Beach. Other days, after a bit of rain, the waves picked up and brought with them a trail of driftwood, and, unfortunately, the usual bits of plastic and rubbish. It’s nature’s reminder of its power and, perhaps, a gentle nudge for us to take better care of it.
Around the house, the flora and fauna were just as vibrant. Beautiful flowers bloomed in full color, and a stunning bird made a surprise appearance, adding a splash of nature’s artwork to our garden. Between the flowers, the waves, and the surprises from nature, October was truly a month of contrasting beauties.

Ah, and before I wrap things up, how could I forget? Of course, we managed to sneak in another trip this month! This time, it was a whirlwind “touch and go” to Singapore to take care of some paperwork. Just a quick hop across borders, a few scribbles on documents, and we were back in no time. What can I say? October wasn’t going to let us sit still for long!
And that wraps up my October—a month full of flavors, adventures, and a few surprises along the way! How was your October? What memorable moments, big or small, filled your days? Did you try something new or revisit a favorite spot? I’d love to hear all about it! Now, with the calendar turning, I’m looking forward to what November will bring. New experiences, more delicious bites, and maybe a few unexpected twists—bring it on!
Bye for now,
