My Review:
There’s something magical about getting lost in the pages of a good book, and that’s exactly how I felt when I started reading These Tangled Vines by Julianne MacLean. From the very first chapter, I was hooked, drawn in by the richly-drawn characters and the tantalizing mystery that lay at the heart of the story. Every twist and turn had me holding my breath and eagerly turning the page to find out what would happen next. And while it’s hard to believe that I’ve already finished my third book of the year, I know that my experience with These Tangled Vines will stay with me for a long time to come.
Here’s to many more literary adventures to come!
Some of My Favorite Paragraphs:

“Why do we always wait for traditional special occasions to enjoy good things? Maybe we
just need to create our own special occasions.”

“But isn’t that what life is about? Trying new things? Finding out what you love doing? Then taking a deep dive into it?”

“I’ve often thought that a marriage is like a covered wagon, full of the stuff of life. The man and the woman are the two workhorses who pull it. Eventually, it gets heavy. There are children in the wagon, a home that needs to be maintained, feelings that need to be protected and nurtured when life throws curveballs. It works when both partners pull together, but the journey can’t continue for long if one partner unbuckles the straps and decides to ride in the wagon, because it’s easier, and because he knows his partner will keep pulling no matter what. Sometimes it can’t be helped. If someone gets sick or is suffering in some other way … physically or emotionally or financially … when that happens, the other person needs to bear more of the load, but generally, when both partners are capable, husband and wife should be a team, pulling together, or at least taking equal turns.”

“And though it’s important to look forward, not back,” Fiona added, “I also think it’s important to reflect on past mistakes and learn from them. It helps you move forward in the right direction.”

And I love how the author described Tuscany…is such a lovely place: “Anton had painted Tuscany with a gentle hand while celebrating its movement- the wind in the cypresses, the mist creeping through the valleys, the sunset disappearing behind the mountainous horizon. Fields of yellow sunflowers pointing their faces to the sky. A meadow of poppies fluttering in a fresh breeze. Tuscan architecture in the changing light of dawn. Steep, narrow, twisting cobblestone lanes. Romanesque churches. Piazzas alive with Italians.”
I can’t wait to dive into my next book and see where my literary journey takes me next!
Happy Readings!
