Hello my dear readers,
May is here and it is a wonderful month!

May is the month of roses and love. The fifth month of the year has always been considered the month of the rose, the mark of rebirth, spring, and love.
Why is it said that May is the month of roses? Simple, because it is the month of declarations of love: love blossoms – they say. Hanging a flowering branch (called “May”) on the door of the beloved girl meant, together: you are beautiful as a flower, and: my heart has bloomed for you.
In May, the arrival of spring, which in the previous months had only been a slight hint, a timid promise, becomes a vivid confirmation. The pulse of life returns with its rituals in the gardens, in the fields, and in every form of nature.
In the Middle Ages, the month of May was represented as a young man carrying flowers or as a young man intent on cutting hay. It is the month of flowering, of the explosion of nature, of the complete awakening that follows the sleepiness of April and that precedes the splendor of the upcoming summer.

How was your April?
For me, as usual, was another busy month. I’ve spent my time between office work, developing recipes, home work, exercising, and studying.
My book for April? Was basically the kitchen’s bible: Il Cucchiaio D’Argento or The Silver Spoon, in English.

“Born with a silver spoon in his mouth” they say in Great Britain, of a lucky person. Because once those who owned a spoon, moreover a silver spoon, was definitely a privileged one. And the fact of “having it in your mouth” meant another and much more important privilege: you never have to worry, since the daily food was certain.
– a passage from THE SILVER SPOON, 8th edition, 1997
It’s really a bible for all cooking enthusiasts. It contains everything you need to know, from sauces, flavored butter, appetizers, first courses, main courses, eggs, vegetables, fish, meat, barbecue, cheeses, sweets, international cuisines, frozen foods, to complete menu ideas of the 15 most renowned chefs from the last 50 years.
Think that in Italy, The Silver Spoon is a very appreciated wedding gift. This is not my book, I have borrowed it, but when will happen to see it in the book shop, that will be my next acquisition 😉
For the cooking part, I share some of the recipes that I’ve enjoyed developing in April:
Wish you all a wonderful May, filled with health, happiness, love and lots of accomplishments.
