My Cooking Tip # 5

Hello my dear readers,

It has been a while since I’ve posted my simple but efficient cooking tips so,

here we are, with my fifth tip in the kitchen:

Roll that citrus to get more juice out.

I know sounds silly but believe me it makes a difference.

And if you don’t believe me, try it. Squeeze a lemon without rolling it and then squeeze a lemon that you’ve rolled it first and compare the amount of juice from both.

Enjoy that citrus until the last drop, because sometimes all a dish needs is a squeeze of lemon or lime to take it to the next level.

Squeezing a lemon

Have a lovely day!

I always roll a lemon or a lime before squeezing it. My mother in law taught me this.

It’s good to not waste any drop of it 😉

I do this too! 🍋 Sometimes I also microwave lemons for a few seconds. It’s strange but I learned this trick from a cooking show.

Hi Hilary, nice to hear from you! Thanks for stopping by! I hope you’re doing well! Microwaving lemons? That’s new! It helps with squeezing or?

      1. Hilary Tan Avatar

I think the microwaving helps to get the juices flowing in the lemon. Helps to roll them a bit before microwaving, and you only have to microwave them for a few seconds! I saw this on the Food Network years ago but I don’t remember which cooking show it was!

Thanks Hilary! Always good to know 😉

That’s a fantastic tip. I sometimes cut the lemon lengthwise as cutting your lemon from top to bottom can help produce a lot of juice too 🙂 Aiva xxxx
