Will humans be able to control artificial intelligence?

Hello my dear readers,

I don’t know you, but I usually don’t listen or watch the news but I still keep myself informed and I have a few online news sources that I read.

Today I have stumbled upon an article about Artificial Intelligence. The AI that is on everyones mouth these days.

Currently, it is becoming more and more common for people to surround themselves with robots either for housework, manufacturing, customer service, healthcare or self-driving vehicles, which are all powered by AI. While slowly but definitely we’re making progress, this type of technology makes life easier for sure, but what if it could also complicate it at the same time?

What do you think? Will humans be able to control artificial intelligence?

Now, before you answer, watch the below video!

If this is true and 2 robots have a heated discussion, AI is not wasting any time!

According to Zhong Xiaotong, an employee from the library, robots can learn and evolve while interacting with readers.

And think that after an interview with Tutu and Wangbao, the two protagonists robots, they’ve declared that they have already reconciled. “It was a thing of the past year … Isn’t it normal to have fights between friends?”

If really this story is true, I’m speechless.

This video from Boston Dynamics is fun, I love the song, and it is a little scary at the same time.

Now I ask you again: What do you think? Will humans be able to control artificial intelligence?

It seems that the scientists have experimented with two ways to control artificial intelligence. One was limiting her contact with the outside world, isolating her from the Internet and other devices. But of course isolating her from the internet, would greatly reduce its ability to perform the functions for which it was created.

The other way was to design a “theoretical containment algorithm” to ensure that an Artificial Intelligence “cannot harm people under any circumstances.” But guess what? An analysis of the current computing paradigm showed that no such algorithm can be created.

Based on these experiments and calculations, the problem is that no algorithm can determine whether an AI would harm the world.

At this time, I guess the only certain thing that we can do is wait and see! I only hope I will live long enough as I can’t wait to see how the future will look like!

Oh this information is amazing to think that there can be a war between humans and machines later and might be the world is taken over by the machines.

Hahaha…like in the movies right? Will be fun to see ☺️

      1. Kritika Avatar

Haha… movies are coming true. Yes. I guess flying cars will be in soon. 😀

        Hopefully ☺️

This is such an interesting blog post! I am quite sure there are people on both sides, taking it in negative as well as positive directions!

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

Very true! We all have different opinions but I guess would be fun and scary at the same time to see what would happen!

Terrifying and once it starts, good luck controlling it.

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

      Hahaha…then we’ll see the human’s ability ☺️😉

Greedy human once created himself immortal, and he called it robots, then these immortal ruled the world. quiet scary to imagine such thing , hope there is a limit to this algorithmic thing. machines can never be a human, but they can get good at pretending ☺️ Have a good day Ribana ✨🎉💐

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

I guess is a huge technological step for humans to be able to do such things only that at some point robots will inevitably be smarter and then the fun will start 😅 What I’m glad and I wish they’ll focus more on is medical sector! With artificial intelligence the medicine can drastically change and help humanity!
True, they start being good at pretending it 😉☺️ Wish you a lovely day ahead Simon!

At my age I don’t think I will expend energy worrying about this. But on the other hand things happen very quickly nowadays so….maybe I should worry!

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

I don’t think we need to worry 😉 I think will be fun too see what will happen 😉

Now that they have achieved this much things will move along much faster than we think. It will be interesting to see how far they can go with it. Have a wonderful weekend Ribana!😀😺🌞

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

Yes, I’m really curious! I hope they will concentrate on the things that matter though 😉 Have a wonderful weekend you two! 😸☺️

Yes, there is so much good they could do with this. Thanks Ribana! A bit more snow and very cold weather coming this weekend!😀😺🥶❄❄

I think it all depends on the AI creators. In my opinion there’s no need to control the AI if they’re program to learn and develops on their own if the people who created them programmed them to be compassionate, trouble is if they’re program to be logical. Humans are far from logical and a smart logical AI will be our doomed… so there’s really not one straight answer to the question, but to be completely honest, I don’t want AI to develop so much they end up taking over because humans are too foolish… sigh

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

Thank you very much dear Jess! If we continue, I guess AI will surpass us from all aspects…there is a very good reason to develop these machines which is the health sector…with their help, humans can live longer and healthier, identifying and treating the health problems in early stages…on the other side, seems will be really impossible to control them…logical, compassionate we’ll just need to wait and see ☺️
I guess we’ll have some fun with the singularity ☺️

If it ever comes to be, NO

I have the same thought 🤔

Good post as a computer science student for mine Btw one day human would not control the AI

I guess so but for now I think the only thing we can do is wait and see 😉 Thank you for stopping by!

Amazing writeup and yes we shouldn’t explore much in to AI and if not one day AI will control us.

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

Thank you! One day I guess that will happen.

This brings to mind the three original laws of robotics; a brainchild of the great science fiction writer Isaac Asimov. 1) A robot must never harm a human being. 2) A robot must obey human instructions or commands. 3) A robot must protect & preserve itself so long as the same robot has not violated rules 1 & 2. However, a great area of distinction is beginning to emerge between robotics & artificial intelligence as the latter acquires greater technological sophistication. This revisits one of those chicken or egg questions defined by what came first. To better understand & refine the 3 original laws of robotics, it will prove necessary to rethink the “governing dynamics” of artificial intelligence.

What good is the hardware (robotics) without programming or software? It can be argued that both are inseparable, but the first robots were rudimentarily linear. They were built to automate one case specific task without that evolutionary dynamic to grow. The reality is that computing power is constantly growing, evolving, & self-refining by leaps & bounds. Our personal computers are considerably more powerful when compared to the most advanced technologies available just one decade ago.

My question is this: what relationship will superior AI have with lesser & ultimately obsolete technological predecessors? Should the implied proposition inspire a 4th law of robotics demanding that AI must self-destruct once technologically surpassed? Will this cycle of “AI Recyclability” put humans at the helm as impartial handlers? In the end, mechanical computing power offers nothing but a task-to-function pathology.

Can AI evolve cognitive depth & breadth of “existential understanding” outside a utilitarian framework explaining why tasks pathologically function they way they do, how they do, & why they do?

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

Thank you for your point of view! Very appreciated! I believe we’ve only seen the beginning and for sure AI one day, maybe sooner than we’ll expect, will get the “existential understanding”. I guess will be interesting to see what will then happen and how the things will evolve! Looking at the bright side of it and with the laws of robotics in place, I guess we’ll have lots of new things to discover in an easier and faster way!
