Searching for…Pecan pie easy recipe

Hello all,

I would like to try my luck and make a pecan pie from scratch but there are a few days now that I’m keep searching an easy to follow recipe but can’t find any…

Most recipes I’ve found use the pastry dough already done, the one that you buy and is ready to use but here I cannot find it so I would like to make it from scratch.

Another problem for me is that recipes in cups don’t work for me…I believe the conversions I do to grams are never correct…yep…it happens every time to me and the results sometimes are not even edible…

Any suggestions of a good recipe with steps by steps to follow, for my “home no-baker that never did a pecan pie level” would be very appreciated.

Thank you.

Have a wonderful day!

  1. I’ve only made a pecan pie once, but I used a ready made crust : (. If it still helps the recipe is on my blog… good luck with your pie, I bet it will be amazing πŸ™‚β˜˜οΈ

    1. I’m not against the ready made crust only that I cannot find it…I’ve took a look at yours…so pretty with the hearts shape made of pecan πŸ˜‰ The pie crust is what type of crust? Here I can only find puff pastry to filo pastry…πŸ€ͺ

      1. Ohhh, that’s unfortunate πŸ˜”! I actually used a roll and bake 9″ pie crust from Kroger, not a puff one. Thanks πŸ˜€, I hope you manage to find one or decide to make one, either way the pie will be delicious πŸ˜‹β˜˜οΈ
I hope you find it or

      2. Happy Panda advise here a super recipe for the crust ☺️ I’ll give it a try and see what I can do 😁πŸ€ͺ
        Thank you very much ☺️

  2. Mine uses premade pie dough….sorry. I also don’t know abou the conversion. Let me kniw if oyu have prblem, I’ll dig my gramps recipe out but it’s very simple and not made from the finest of ingredients. Think simple old people from the depression recipe.

  3. Hello Ribana, That must taste good. Here’s something I use for apple pies: Butter Pie Crust Recipe

    2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

    1 tsp salt

1 cup (2 sticks) plus 2 tbsp. cold unsalted butter (I used Magnolia Unsalted) cut into pieces

    1/2 cup ice water

Combine flour and salt in medium bowl, cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture is crumbly.

Sprinkle water, 1 tbsp at a time over flour mixture, tossing lightly with a fork until mixture forms an even dough.

Divide dough in half, flatten and shape into disks and wrap each in plastic, refrigerate for an hour.

Roll out pastry on a lightly floured surface into circle, about 12 to 14 inches round. Carefully fold in quarters, lift gently and unfold into a 9-inch pie pan.

Gently press pastry against bottom and sides of pan, trim overhang to 1/2 inch, then fold the edge under. Pinch edges to flute.

    1. Hi Arlene, oh wow, thank you very much for the recipe! Very appreciated! It sounds easy but I’m sure is not πŸ€ͺ
I will give a try to the pie crust…now is a challenge for me πŸ€ͺ
Let’s see the results πŸ€ͺ if will be edible πŸ€ͺ

  4. I’ve never done it. And no matter what baking, I always find it problematic to switch from cups to grams. I love pecan as it is too so if I can’t make a pie no problem. I’ll take it as it is πŸ˜‚ Sorry, I’m no help haha

    1. I thought I’m the only one having problems with switching from cups to grams πŸ€ͺ it is really difficult because for example a cup of sugar has different grams than a cup of flour 🀨🧐 oh well…I need an automatic converter πŸ€ͺ but even so I’ll not trust it completely πŸ€ͺ
I do like pecans as they are too…but Happy Panda send me a recipe that seems simple πŸ˜… I’ll try my luck with it and see what I can do πŸ˜‚πŸ€£

      1. Hmmm…this I did not checkπŸ€” Before buying the other ingredients I’ll check the pecans πŸ€ͺ maybe in the end is cheaper buying the whole pie 😝

      2. Thank you dear Jess! I do enjoy cooking πŸ§‘β€πŸ³ it relaxes me ☺️ is my way of meditation, emptying my brain ☺️πŸ€ͺ

      3. That’s why it shows in your every food photo… so good I can almost taste them πŸ˜‹
I still have to find what is for me… I guess reading πŸ“š yeah reading is what relax me the most πŸ˜„

      4. Thank you very much dear Jess….it makes me glad you think my photos are so enjoyable….I always feel I don’t make enough justice to the food with my photos…πŸ€ͺ as I don’t know how to make them super appealing but also to eat them immediately πŸ€ͺ It’s always a struggle πŸ€ͺ I should learn to take better pictures but for now I’m concentrating more on cooking πŸ€ͺ
Reading is my second thing that relaxes me….I can get lost in the books for hours and days without even realising I’m hungry….πŸ€ͺ
Better yet if I’m reading outside, surrounded by nature 😍

      5. Same. I get lost when reading or writing.
We’re flip here too. Because cooking is second for me πŸ˜‚
I’m not sure if you give food justice compare to the real thing but those photos are great, so much it makes one hungry just by looking 😁

      6. Cooking and reading, reading and cooking πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ Flipped but still the same πŸ€ͺ
Thank you dear Jess! If I make you hungry just looking at the photos then means that my efforts are well worth it πŸ˜‰

    1. Hahaha…I guess for a good result that’s the secret πŸ€ͺ
I’ll try the recipe suggested by Happy Panda and hopefully the result will be something edible πŸ€ͺ😝

    1. Happy Panda suggested here in the comments one recipe step by step just for my home-baker level πŸ€ͺ
I’ll give it a try and see what I can do 😁
Have a wonderful day too! 🌸
