Mojito cocktail at home

Living in a hot and humid climate all year round, I’m always in a need of something refreshing.

In my little green corner I have a mint plant that has a special use for Mojito cocktail.

A few notes on the history of this cocktail born in the 1930s and symbol of Cuba, together with the Daiquiri:

Mojito became famous thanks to the writer Ernest Hemingway, who stayed in Cuba in the 1950s and used to drink the Mojito at the famous local La Bodeguita del Medio.

The ingredients of the Mojito are very simple (white rum, lime, brown sugar, soda, mint); for the success of the cocktail all the ingredients must be of good quality: choose fresh mint as it plays a decisive role, as does the rum.

It seems that the name Mojito derives from the voodoo term “Mojo” (spell) and therefore means small spell.

Never miss a recipe!

This might be the only time that I’m not envying the photos you show dear Ribby. But I’m longing for heat. I’m freezing in my seat right now. 16 degrees C inside the house 🥶

Hahaha…oh my…16 degrees C inside the house? That’s way too cold for me 🥶 But maybe a cocktail can help you warm a little bit 😉

      1. Jessica E. Larsen Avatar

True. Alcohol does sometimes do that. 😄
It’s too cold for me too, but we’re trying to be economical and tries to avoid electric heater. The house isn’t holding the heat as well as it should.
20C is my ideal temperature ☺

      2. popsiclesociety Avatar

Back home we used to keep it at 20-21C too….but was way too cold for me…I always needed to have lots of layers 🤪

      3. Jessica E. Larsen Avatar

Haha 😄 I think it a question of getting use to it. Now we keep the room at 18-19. It’s fine. Then again, it’s the same in Spain, anything lower than 21 and everyone use jackets 😄

      4. popsiclesociety Avatar

It’s fine until you move, once you stay you’ll freeze 🥶😁 At least this happened to me back home…😁 until I was moving around with house work or cooking 18-19 was perfect temperature but when I stopped oh my…I needed lots of layers and hot drinks 😆😆

Where is a good place to get the sugar cane from?

    1. popsiclesociety Avatar

99% of the sugar cane imported in Singapore is from Malaysia….I always suggest to go for an organic one 😉
