My super easy apple crumble pie šŸŽ

Hello my dear readers,

Time for another super easy, fast but tremendously delicious seasonal recipe.

Are you ready?

It’s time for apple crumble pie.

I know that all of us have a version of an apple pie as is too good to not like it šŸ˜‰

I am not a chef or a baker, I have never had any cooking lessons, but one thing is sure: I like cooking and baking in my very little spare time and I am a great gourmand of course

As you probably know by now, I always like to keep my recipes super simple and fast but I never like to compromise on the taste. And this apple crumble pie doesn’t fail! It has theseĀ crunchy crumbs that contain a filling of cooked apples scented with cinnamon! Crunchy outside, soft inside, a real treat!

Ingredients for a round plain cake mould 18-20 cm:

  • 250 grams of flour
  • 50 grams of powdered almonds or almond flour
  • 1 whole egg
  • 150 grams of granulated sugar
  • 110 grams of cold butter
  • 1/2 sachet of baking powder (8 grams)
  • zest of one lemon
  • 1 pinch of salt

For the apple filling:

  • 3 apples (any types of apples)
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 small lemon
  • 1 tablespoon of raisins (optional, to be added to the cold filling)

How to do it:

First of all peel the apples, cut them into small cubes, place them in a pan with sugar, cinnamon, the zest and juice of half a lemon and cook for about 15 minutes or until the mixture is soft and without liquid and then let it cool.

In a bowl mix together the ingredients of the quick pastry and crumble it with your hands then refrigerate for 15 minutes.

I have always struggled to do the zest until I have tried this very handy zester and surprise surprise, now you can have it too, as is available on my Popsicle Society Shop, along with a wide range of stylish and qualityĀ kitchenĀ accessories andĀ utensil. And don’t worry, SHIPPING IS FREE!

When the bases are cold, you can make your apple crumble.

Line your cake mould with baking paper. Place just over half the pastry crumbs, compacting the bottom and side walls with your hands and add the soft apples.

Cover the pie with the remaining crumbs.

While the oven is reaching the temperature, put the crumbled pie in the fridge.

Bake in a hot oven at 180° C for about 35 – 40 minutes until the top is browned!

Let it cool completely for at least 1 hour before serving.

Looks delicious, Ribana! šŸŽšŸ’• I actually had a small slice of apple crumble pie (yes, apple crumble pie!) at IKEA this evening. This was before I saw your blog post, so coincidence? I’m not supposed to be eating sugary things but I made an exception because #date-night.

Thank you very much Hilary! What a coincidence šŸ¤—:) Usually apples pie, cakes or sweets are not really so sweet but even if they are #date-night deserves it šŸ™‚ šŸ’• šŸ¤—

Update: I’m using your recipe today and it’s currently in the oven. I didn’t have a round pan so I’m using a larger rectangular one. This is the first recipe I used for an apple crumble that didn’t call for oats. Surprisingly, I happened to have almond flour! I subbed some maple syrup and halved the sugar so I’m hoping it will be sweet enough. My dough was super sticky but I used margarine instead of butter. I’m looking forward to eating it tonight. I agree – it’s a great way to use up ripe apples that are a little past their prime. šŸŽšŸŽšŸŽ

I discovered that this is one of those recipes that tastes better the very next day. It was still warm when I ate it last night but I found that it’s best to let it sit overnight. Now it tastes just like plum cake. Pretty sure that I will be making this recipe again in the future. Thanks for sharing this recipe, Ribana! šŸ˜ŠšŸ’•
