Our first panettone this year

Hello my dear readers,

This year we are going back home so no Christmas cooking and baking, just eating ๐Ÿ˜‰

But of course, since is panettone season, I couldnโ€™t resist until we go back home, so I have bought one ๐Ÿ˜‰ This is our first panettone this year.

Panettone Chiostro di Saronno Gin & Lemon, originating from Milan, is a fluffy sweet bread loafย with raisins and candied lemon peels and filled with gin pastry cream. Heaven! Especially if you are a gin lover, as I am ๐Ÿ˜‰

Panettone is usually enjoyed during Christmas and New Year in Italy and is made during a long process that involves curing of the dough with the proofing process alone taking several days, giving the cake its distinctive fluffy characteristics.

It is served in slices, vertically cut, accompanied with sweet hot beverages or a sweet wine.

Legends are saying that at the end of the fourteenth century, a pastry maker from the court of Visconti wanted to bake a cake for his sweetheart, but during the preparation, something went wrong and the dough rose out of all proportion and in this manner panettone was born.

For me, I think he did very well, as I love panettone ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‹

Do you like panettone? With so many options out there, which one is your favourite?

Wish you a Happy Merry Christmas in advance ๐Ÿ˜‰๐ŸŽ„
