Yes, I must admit, I am quite focused on eating healthy foods and having a balanced and nutritious diet. And the good part for me is that I have never considered it a diet but a lifestyle.

Most people when they hear the word “diet” they are very reluctant and think that’s an impossible thing, something very strict, something that they can never follow. “Oh and what you eat? Salads?” is something that I hear often when we’re discussing about healthy food.

Well, healthy foods are not only salads, and as long as it’s considered a “diet” and not a lifestyle, I understand that for lots of people it can be difficult.

But if you want just for curiosity to understand more about healthy foods, let’s take 5 examples of foods that are super healthy and you could really enjoy eating.

Never miss a post:

1.Eggs

Eggs are one of the few foods that should be classified as “superfoods”, as are among the most nutritious foods on the planet.

No, don’t smirk at me, I know that eggs have gotten a bad reputation because the yolks are high in cholesterol, but believe me, cholesterol isn’t that simple. Cholesterol plays a very important function in our body, being essential to every cell membrane, and because it’s so important, our body has evolved elaborate ways to ensure that it always has enough available. Because getting cholesterol from the diet isn’t always an option, our liver produces enough to meet our body’s needs and when we eat cholesterol-rich foods such as eggs, our liver starts producing less to keep cholesterol levels from becoming excessively high. So basically, the more cholesterol we eat, the less our body produces and the science is very clear that up to 3 whole eggs per day are perfectly safe for healthy people. At the same time, eating eggs leads also to elevated levels of HDL the “good” cholesterol, which is linked to a lower risk of many diseases. Eggs are also an excellent source of protein and contain all the essential amino acids that humans need, with a single large egg containing six grams of it and proteins are the main building blocks of the human body, being used to make all sorts of tissues and molecules that serve both structural and functional purposes.

Eggs being also low in calories, cheap, easy to prepare and that goes with almost any food and taste, are pretty much a nature’s perfect food.
