Getting Older Ain’t So Bad

Getting old isn’t for the faint of heart. Some days it feels like every bone in your body is aching, and you just can’t get going like you used to. But age isn’t just a number – it’s also a state of mind. Just because you’re getting up there in years doesn’t mean you have to hang up your dancing shoes just yet. In fact, there are plenty of things to look forward to when you hit the big 4-0.

For starters, you finally have a little more disposable income. You can treat yourself to a well-deserved vacation or a fancy new pair of shoes without guilt. And let’s not forget that 40 is the new 20. You’re still young enough to enjoy all the best that life has to offer, but you also have the wisdom that comes with experience.

Now that I’m actually 40 today, I realize that getting older ain’t so bad after all. Here’s why.

More Freedom

One of the best things about getting older is that you finally have the freedom to do what you want. You can choose to work or not work, travel or stay at home, and spend your time how you please. You don’t have to answer to anyone but yourself, and that is a truly liberating feeling.

More Knowledge

Another great thing about getting older is that you have more knowledge than you did when you were younger. You know more about the world, other people, and, most importantly, yourself. You’ve learned from your mistakes, and you are better for it. As they say, wisdom comes with age.

More Gratitude

Finally, one of the best things about getting older is that you learn to appreciate life more. When you’re young, you take things for granted and don’t realize how precious life is. But as you get older, you start to see just how fragile life is and how lucky you are to be alive. You learn to appreciate the little things and be grateful for all that you have.

I’m 40 years old today and I have a lot to be grateful for. I’m healthy, happy, and surrounded by people I love. I’ve been fortunate enough to have a good career, wonderful friends, and a loving family.

I’m grateful because I have the ability to enjoy one of my favorite hobbies: cooking. I love trying new recipes and coming up with my own creations, and I’m always excited to share my food with others. The best part about cooking is that it’s a never-ending process; there’s always something new to learn, and there’s always room for improvement. I’m grateful that I can enjoy this hobby, and I’m looking forward to continuing to develop my skills in the kitchen.

I’m grateful that I managed to become a nutritionist. It was something that I always wanted to do, and I’m glad that I was able to achieve it. I love being able to help people eat better and live healthier lives. It’s a great feeling to know that I’m making a difference in the world. I know that becoming a nutritionist wasn’t easy. It took a lot of hard work and dedication. But it was all worth it in the end. I’m proud of myself for what I’ve accomplished, and I’m excited to see what the future holds.

I’m grateful for all the good things in my life, and I’m also grateful for the hard times I’ve faced. They’ve made me stronger and more resilient. I know that the next 40 years will be even better than the first, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. Thank you, universe, for everything.

What I’ll do next? Chasing my dreams because dreams are what keep us going. They give us something to strive for, something to hope for. And while they may seem impossible at times, that’s what makes chasing them all the more rewarding. I’m a dream chaser because I believe that anything is possible if you set your mind to it. I’ve seen too many people give up on their dreams because they thought they were unattainable. But I know that with enough determination and hard work, anything is possible. So I’ll continue to chase my dreams, and I encourage you to do the same. After all, what’s life without a little bit of dreaming?

  1. Happy Birthday Ribana, I didn’t know you were a Scorpio just like me – my Birthday is actually a few days after yours! I know that many of us have strong feelings about 40. But I fall firmly into the camp that believes age is just a state of mind, and I’ll admit that I feel way better in my 40s than I did a decade ago.

    1. Thank you very much Aiva and happy birthday to you too 🤩🎂 Scorpio forever! 🤩 Wish you a lovely day surrounded by happiness and love 💕 Oh yes, I do believe is a state of mind too and I feel that more beautiful things are coming. This is only the beginning 😉

  2. Firstly it’s a great post on your 40 birthday 🥳 and it’s great to see you as well 😊 you are glowing! 🥰
Happy birthday to you and thank you for reminding us about things we should be grateful for on this journey, you certainly opened our eyes to very important points here 👌

The next 40 will be even greater because you will make the best of it 🤗🤗💕💕🧸🧸🧸 🍷 🥂 🥂

    1. Thank you again dear Koko 😍 I know I’m not easy to see, but every now and then I like enough a photo with me that I am willing to share 🤩
Even before I was grateful, but now…I don’t know if it’s really the big number or what, but I do really feel this feeling of gratitude for everything, and I can’t explain it in words how gratifying that feeling is!
Yes, becoming a nutritionist I guess completed my circle of healthy lifestyle and I’m happy when I can help others to reach their happy and healthy lifestyle too.
I’ll try my best to make the best from my next 40 😉🤩

      1. Always good to see you even if rarely 😊
It’s enough that this feeling owns you, it’s great and you don’t need to explain it at all
Grateful to have a great friend like you as well and I’m sure the next 40 will be even greater 🤗🤗💕💕🧸🧸

  3. Happy birthday! I thought about being a nutritionist right out of high school. I didn’t end up doing that but it’s still something I enjoy learning about and making the right choices for myself and family.

  4. Aww Happy belated Birthday! I turn 40 in March too and I am easing into my acceptance of it lol but like you, I am trying to see all the positives so as not to forsake the success of the past to get me to where I am today! 🙂

  5. Your writing shows a wonderful and realistic approach to aging, and so I know that it will go well for you. But I am shocked that you perceive 40 as old, and the start of your golden years. You have many adventures ahead in the next 40 or 50 years, I promise. And what are these aches and pains? What can you do about them?

    1. Thank you for stopping by! I’m not considering myself old, I’ve simply reached 40 and I’m grateful☺️ I’m sure I’ll have many adventures and experiences in the next 40 ☺️ The aches and pains are the ones that shape me and help me move forward 😉
