Step-by-Step Instructions on how to make Danubio Salato (Savory Pull Apart Bread with Cheese and Ham)

To make this perfect and super soft savory pull apart bread, start by mixing the lukewarm milk with the yeast and sugar until the yeast and sugar are dissolved.

Danubio Salato (Savory Pull Apart Bread with Cheese and Ham) Recipe with Step-by-Step Instructions

In a large bowl, put the flour and add the milk with the yeast, sugar, olive oil, egg, and a pinch of fine salt.

Mix directly into the bowl until all the ingredients are combined. Transfer the dough to a work surface and knead vigorously until a soft, elastic, and homogeneous dough ball is obtained.

Put the dough into a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with plastic wrap or a cloth and let it rise until doubled. It will take about 2 to 3 hours.

Preheat the oven to 180°C.

Take the dough and divide it into approx. 20 balls. Press down and flatten each piece, creating a disk with your hands, and stuff it with the ham and cheese. Then form the balls by closing them well.

Place the balls, with the closure facing down, in a round baking pan sprayed with a little bit of oil or lined with parchment paper. Cover the pan with a kitchen cloth and let it rise for another hour.

    1. Thank you Bernadette! Yes, of course. You can prepare the bread and refrigerate it for 2-3 days before baking it. It will be even more light and easily digestible. If you want, you can even freeze it and when you’re ready to bake it, defrost it, let it rise again and then bake it.

  1. I guess it will be some miracle if I ended up doing this recipe and receive the result I saw in the picture 😁 as easy as you make this seems, I believe the bread will not be that organized and perfect 😊 This really looks extremely delicious and you make it look so simple yet perfect as usually 👌🤗🤗💕💕
