Hello November

Hello my dear readers,

And just like that, it is November.

Hello November

Where did October go? How was it?

I don’t really know as I have worked and worked, and had medical visits, and worked some more, and studied a little bit, worked some more, and then was gone.

I’m not a Halloween person because it is too scary for me, but we were to a Halloween-themed dinner last night and enjoyed some “scary” treats.

This month I have been working on a few interesting recipes that you can find them below.

Peanut Butter Banana Dogs With Homemade Raspberries Jam
Cuban Style Imperial Rice With Chicken, Ham, and Cheese
Gluten-Free Quinoa Bread Buns
Indulgent Quinoa Cookies With Almonds And Dark Chocolate
Healthy Superfood Chia Pudding With Yogurt and Blackberries
Kale, Avocado and Pear Green Smoothie
Lemon-Infused White Chocolate Truffles

My readings in October

I’m plodding this period at reading, but I have managed to read The Women at Hitler’s Table by Rosella Postorino.

The Women at Hitler’s Table by Rosella Postorino

Thinking that I complain about my work, and these women in East Prussia, back in 1943, risked their lives two times per day by filling their belly with delicious vegetarian food, but with the knowledge that every bite might be their last.

It is a disturbing but powerful novel, inspired by the true story of Hitler’s food tasters, and I think it may be the same story of other people nowadays that share the same fate, but maybe in different circumstances.

If you were offered a job to be a food taster, knowing that your every bite might be your last, would you do it?

Something else that impressed me was people’s dedication. Just read below how was supposed to be done a “mighty Heil Hitler!”.

So this was my October.

How was yours? Have you managed to realise your goals?

November is a special month for me as it is my birthday. We usually celebrate it in Hong Kong, but this will be the second year that we can’t travel, so we’ll probably indulge in some delicious food somewhere around Singapore. My November goals? I guess maybe:

Work a little less, be healthy, happy, stay in shape, enjoy nature, and blogging!

Wish you a wonderful month filled with happiness, health and lots of goal achievements, whatever your goals may be.

  1. Those are awfully cute Halloween treats 😻
I find the book very interesting. I’m a big fan of World War 2 books. Will definitely try out this one.
October flew ruthlessly, just like every other month in the last 1.7 years.

    1. Hahaha, yes, instead of being “scary,” are cute 😉 and were also delicious 😉
It’s an interesting book. Give it a try 📖 😉
Yes, the months are passing by extremely fast, and I’m always struggling to find enough time though 😅

  2. ohh that sounds like an interesting book! I will look into it and pop it on my TBR list!

I feel the same way about Halloween. Although, I am scared to admit it in most circles because people always look at me like I’m the monster. WHO HATES HALLOWEEN?? They always ask lol.. But I am a big baby and scaredy cat! I also don’t love dressing up because as a kid my parents never really cared to get us proper costumes so we always kind of had to make due with cheap masks and I always felt like I was an outsider (living a facade or something but one that people could totally see through)… I guess I need to just get over it LOL

    1. I’ve never understood why people like so much Halloween, as I’ve never understood how they can watch horror movies 🙈
I guess in America is really considered something important…Where I grew up was just a commercial holiday…and nowadays I see is just a fun way for the kids to get some candies 🍬 ☺️
Don’t worry! You are a big baby now and you can just forget it and get over it…you can even make it fun for yourself and enjoy some “scary” treats like I did 😉😋

  3. I was talking to a pal on the phone yesterday and she something like “well it is now November” and I looked down at my calendar which was just there to fill in something for last evening, and I realised I hadn’t turned the page! When I did, I saw way down on the 29th of this month that our gov’t would consider our regions’ next “Level” move in the current lockdown! I do have all my regular events marked before, but doubt anything will go ahead…because they are big groups. Big groups are banned!

    Heaps of things are banned…

Easier to stay home, local walks and be one with my creativity and online shopping…

Halloween has only just caught on here, but of course it’s on the “banned list” – it seems some Mums sorted out mailbox drops but it probably frizzled in the main. But for some reason, and also banned, firework sellers are about! That’s for Guy Fawkes this Friday, sales only from 2-5th Nov.

I’ve a art pal, who said yesterday on her daily drawing it was Day 72!

We did drop a level – but they gov’t added Steps – we are still on Step 3, but possibly going to Step 2 next Wednesday (that’s designated “roadmap”) but there is still another nationwide idea “traffic lights” – and it’s possibly that my region will go direct to the Red Traffic Light before I believe the roadmap is done!!!

And I’ve had some pretty “done weeks” ….

    1. This situation definitely is changing our plans…😓 I’m still hoping for better days with less cases, when everyone can travel freely and enjoy various events! Life is too short to just stay at home 😓
