My Cooking Tip # 1

Hello my dear readers,

During this Covid situation lots of us rediscovered the “art” of cooking and baking.

I always loved to make my experiments in the kitchen and slowly, slowly some dishes I’ve managed to do them well, I even surprised myself sometimes.

Some of my recipes that I’m proud of:

Oh yes, that’s the exact expression 🤪

I’m not an expert cook or baker but let’s say I’m quite ok at home cooking easy, fast and delicious dishes, so I was thinking to share some of my tips that I’ve learned during these years.

So here we are, my first tip in the kitchen:

Get a salad spinner and dry your salad before seasoning it.

Some may say that a salad spinner is not needed but believe me it is. Not only does a salad spinner make washing lettuces easy, but it dries it so much so more efficiently than towels ever could.

And if you are a salad lover you will know that wet greens are the enemies of salads everywhere. Even a little bit of water on your greens will repel the oils in salad dressing, preventing it from coating the leaves, instead the dressing will slide off and pool at the bottom of your bowl, where all that extra liquid will make the whole salad go soggy and limp faster and the result: a very tasteless and soggy salad.

How to avoid a tasteless and soggy salad?

Get a salad spinner, wash and dry your greens before seasoning and you will have a very delicious salad.

Do you use a salad spinner to dry your greens? Or how do you dry them?

Would love to know.

Have a lovely day!

  1. 🤔about that 😁 I wash and toss it inside fridge, 😂yes that’s true wet greens are the enemies, I realised it late 😉😸 but yes the tips are really helpful ✨🤗 and this is new ✨ Have a wonderful day Ribana ✨💐

    1. Nobody likes a soggy salad 🥗🤪
And you’re one of the healthy guys so I’m sure you eat lots of greens 🥬😉 With a salad spinner you’ll not have anymore problems with wet greens 😉
Friday Simon 🤩🤩🤩 we made it 😉😁🎊 Have a wonderful day 🤩🤗🎊

      1. Yes, I take lot of greens, mostly fresh from market, should have a spinner 😉 too and…😍Yay!!! Friday 🤩 We made it. Let’s have fun 🥳in this beautiful Friday, and wish you an awesome weekend ahead ✨💐💐🤗

  2. I rinse the leaves, load them in a tea towel, and take it out in the garden and swing my greens around like Xena. Hilarious, fast, and keeps the neighbours wondering about my mental state.

      1. I consider greens part of my life 🤪 a day without veggies is not a day…hahaha…are very helpful in maintaining a good health 😉 and beside Muffin likes them too 😉😻

      2. Right, you have a point,🤔 I do have veggies every day, just not the, um, salad type green stuff.😳 When I was able to have my favorite salad dressing then I ate salads a lot more. But they’re not so thrilling now. Sigh.🙄

      3. Hahaha…then you must find another salad dressing that you like and that you can eat 😉 Simple right? The best salad dressing is extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt & pepper…that’s it 😉

  3. We don’t have a salad spinner, but I wish we did. The problem is that we have a tiny little kitchen, and if we got a salad spinner, we’d have to get rid of something else–like plates.

    1. I have a small kitchen too and I understand…actually I only keep one pan in order to be able to keep also the salad spinner 😉 but is all worth it, especially because I use it every single day 🤪
