And back to the routine

Hello my dear readers,

It has been a while…How are you? I hope your new year started well!

I am the kind of person that is functioning based on a daily routine, but sometimes I do like to break it and a travel is the perfect way to turn it upside down.

As you all know, this Christmas we went back home to Italy. Was great spending time with family after several years, but after two weeks I was glad to get back to my daily routine.

It is amazing however how easy we adapt to different environments and routines…

I have a pretty active day here in Singapore…I woke up at 5:30am every morning and go to the gym. After shower, breakfast and 50 minutes commute, at 8:30am I’m in the office. I return back home at 7pm, and between cooking dinner, groceries, laundry, cleaning the house and sometimes blogging, my day is full, ending somewhere around 11pm that I’m death asleep…

In Italy, my routine was pretty much doing nothing except eating and some strolls into the city…very different, but my body adapted to it immediately becoming pretty lazy…

I’m not on a diet and I never was, but living always in summer, beside a copious breakfast made from fruits, eggs, cereals and cappuccino, my daily lunch is usually a big salad with different proteins: tuna, chicken, ham, cheese or quinoa, and dinner just one main dish: fish, meat or tofu with veggies, and plenty of fruits during the day, but back in Italy we had breakfast usually with brioche and cappuccino, lunch with antipasti, first and second course, and dessert of course, then dinner again with antipasti, first and second course and dessert of course…

…let’s say that what I have eaten in Italy in one day, I eat in Singapore in probably 3 days…

I’m not used anymore to eat so much but guess what, in just a few days my body adapted to it without problems…luckily were only 2 weeks and I’ve skipped 2-3 times dinner, otherwise I would have returned to Singapore with several more kilos…

We’ve come back to Singapore on Tuesday evening and after more than 14 hours of travel, 7 hours time difference, on Wednesday morning at 5:30am I was in the gym, re-starting my usual routine…

I must admit it though, that is really tough after 2 weeks of laziness to get back to an active daily routine…still need to get used to it, my body is trying to fight it and is demanding more food of course, but I have realized again that everything is depending on me! If my mind is saying “yes, you can do it”, I can do it no matter how difficult it is!

For some may be a silliness but don’t be fooled as is always a change. Whatever you decide to change in your daily routine, will have certain effects on you and may not be always easy but be always positive, is for your well being and you can always do it even when it seems you can’t!

I’m back to my working routine which is pretty traumatic after holidays, although I have worked during my holidays too, but I still have to get back to my blogging routine and restart my Discovering our food and Discovering our world series…but please bear with me…I’ll start working on them soon 😉

Long story short: YOU CAN!

How is your restart after holidays?

What do you do to get back on track?

I would love to know 😉

Bye bye for now!

Wish you a wonderful weekend!

  1. Hi! Oh yes, back to the routine although I guess I’m pretty much into it anyway. I’m helping out a family friend and my time is not quite mine yet. I have a lot to do for this lady who can’t do anything for herself; hardly…..anyway, I don’t mind helping out but because the situation is sad I could never do it again. I have to get back to Blogging for 2020 and I know that I really need to step it up, that is my plan anyway.
I really don’t make resolutions, just mental notes to myself.
Yes, and I have to adjust my eating times and what I want to eat since I do all the cooking and I want it to be healthy.
Keeping a Journal is something I do too and many times I find myself writing backwards in it, know what I mean? Time slips by and I try to remember things by going backwards.
Thanks for sharing Popsiclesociety and good to have ya back!

    1. Hello, so kind of you helping the others in need! 💕
I don’t make new year resolutions either…I guess if I did I couldn’t stick to them…I better make the whole year as a lifestyle in which I can accomplish all my desires 😉
Times is really flying! A journal I guess it helps keeps some good memories 😉
Thank you for stopping by and wish you a wonderful Sunday!

  2. I LOVE this!!! Glad you enjoyed Italy and so awesome that you just dove back into your routine once home. That’s half the battle right there! Your apartment view is gorgeous. I’m so glad to be back into a routine also. It helps me feel grounded. Have a great weekend!!!

  3. Sounds like you had a wonderful, carefree, and appetizing break.
Unlike most holiday makers, I am breaking from the routine of running a beach hotel with my hubby next week. Mostly French and German tourists have bid good bye to Mauritius and I am saying good bye too. See you soon in February. Flying to Mumbai and Goa.
Will be back to the routine soon, except for my passion, writing ✍🏻
    Tantalizing holiday account.
    Love it 😍

    1. Thank you very much!
Oh wow, not a very usual routine though…it must be wonderful to run a beach hotel 😉
Enjoy your holidays in Mumbai and Goa…have fun and relax 😎😉

  4. When I go back home to my family, especially over the holidays, eating is a big part. But this year my family came to me in London and for the first time in 30 years, I have not gained weight over Christmas. And the secret was sightseeing! I took them around England, for walks etc. So I was always busy and moving around. During my cruise holidays I normally go to the gym on board. Even if it is just for 15 – 30 min. Some movement is always better than none and makes you stick to your routine a bit easier.

    1. That’s a good way 😉 Next time I should invite my family over for Christmas 😉
Yes, working out or making some movement is always good and even if sometimes is difficult, is well worth it 😉
Thank you very much for stopping by!

  5. Hey Ribana, I’m just checking up if you’re open for collabs with your blog? If so, then I’d love to hear from you! As I couldn’t find any contact info on your blog, it would be great if you could email me directly at olivia@blogerize.com and then I could tell you more! Thanks 🙂

    1. Hi Simon, yes, sometimes we do need a break and Christmas is the perfect time 😉
I’m not yet up with my blog routine though 🤪 but I’m working on it 😉
I hope you had a great holiday season too 😉

  8. Instead of the pain and shock of going all-out healthy after overindulging over the holidays, I slowly wean myself off of cream & eggnog in my coffee (back to Vanilla Almond Milk), start making my food portions smaller and smaller, and stop buying chips and other junk. Then January becomes not quite so painful. I also fill up the cold days with artwork inside, which I can focus on without feeling guilty about missing any sunshine (Canadian winters are gloomy & horrid). Thanks for the great post – All the Best in 2020 and beyond!

    1. A slowly transition is always better I guess 😉 Thank you very much for stopping by and sharing! Artwork indeed can bring some sunshine even if outside is cold and gloomy 😉 I know Canadian winters have also a lot of snow ❄️ 😉
      Wish you a wonderful 2020!
