National Orchid Garden, Singapore

As a city in a garden, Singapore’s national flower is an orchid.

Vanda ‘Miss Joaquim’ also known as the Singapore orchid and the Princess Aloha orchid and incorrectly as Vanda ‘Miss Agnes Joaquim’, is a hybrid orchid cultivar that is Singapore’s national flower.

The National Orchid Garden is located within the Singapore Botanic Gardens. With over 1000 species and 2000 hybrids on display, the splendour of these gorgeous blooms is absolutely a sight to behold.

Every time I go I cannot stop doing pictures. The orchids are really amazing.

  1. Wonderful!!!!!!

    Moth Orchids

    By Ellen Bass

If you are ill or can’t sleep, you can

watch them spread their wings — the hours

it might take for a baby to be born —

    the furled sepals arching, until

the petals splay like a woman stretched, flung

open, blood blooming through her veins.

And then stillness, the white fans glisten

day after day like sunlit snow

  2. Beautiful photos. I live near Kew Gardens in London and they have an annual orchid festival every spring with a fantastic display. I’ve grown a few orchids in my house for years; they’re so beautiful and special.
